Book Overview

Hallucination is a dark, immersive psychological novel about the fragile boundary between reality and illusion.
Written by 17-year-old Alva Svarttjernet, Hallucination draws inspiration from her lived experience with psychosis, transforming raw emotions into a powerful fictional story.

The novel follows a young protagonist struggling to hold on to reality as voices, hallucinations, and shifting perceptions distort the world around them.
It captures the intense fear, confusion, and vulnerability of a mind fighting to stay grounded — and the quiet strength needed to endure the invisible storms.

Hallucination is a fictional work, but grounded in emotional truth. It offers readers a rare and compassionate glimpse into what it can feel like to lose — and fight to regain — one's sense of self.

For those who are drawn to dark, thoughtful fiction that explores the mind’s hidden battles, Hallucination is a haunting and unforgettable read.

Author's Notes

Hallucination" began as a form of therapy during a period of intense psychotic symptoms. Writing became a way to process overwhelming experiences when speaking was too difficult. Although the story is fictional, many emotions and impressions are drawn from real moments of fear, confusion, and resilience.

Through this novel, I hope to offer readers a glimpse into the inner strength it takes to endure and recover when the mind feels like it’s slipping away. "Hallucination" is not a clinical portrayal — it is a personal, emotional journey told through fiction, written from the inside looking out.
