GRIEFWRITING is set on an urban college campus, where its characters meet in a therapeutic writing course that promotes their healing and offers opportunities for renewal and even love. Its protagonist, a widow and recently retired professor, is teaching this course in an effort to promote her own healing. She soon discovers, however, that it yields other benefits, including a romance with her one-time arch enemy that is loosely based on the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. The novel follows the stories of the other members of this class as well as they struggle to find solace and rebuild their lives after devastating loss.
