Fateful Decisions

Fateful Decisions is a historical fiction novel, that is set in the early part of the twentieth century from 1915 to 1946, with a flashback to 1912.

Rachel's decision to marry one of the two men that proposed to her bring about consequences she did not anticipate. Rachel’s great Aunt Victoria advised her to think about the consequences of her decision. Her decision not only affected Rachel, but her family and those that get involved with them for the next thirty years.

The lives of the characters are also impacted by world events like: The Suffragette Movement, The Russian Revolution, Prohibition, The Great Depression, World War -2 and other events, that get intertwined with the lives of the characters and the personal decisions they make to love, betray, forgive and reconcile. The book shows how wars and personal decisions can forever change the lives of individual characters. At the end of the novel, Rachel has to conclude whether she made the right decision to marry the right man after evaluating the consequences of her decision.

Author's Notes

In 1917, after receiving marriage proposals from two fellow Lusitania survivors, on advice from her aunt, Rachel marries one of them despite having feelings for the other. For the next thirty years, Rachel watches as the dominoes crumble  impacting not only her and her decisions, but also her family, friends and strangers alike in Europe and America, as the world moves from the devastation of WW1, to the roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and into the tumultuous years of WW2 and its aftermath.
