John is the adoptive son of Barden Fenix and grandson of the leader of the Fenix Clan, Cade Fenix.
Due to circumstances that no one understood, John was unable to cultivate. His clan had hired countless medical doctors to find out what was wrong with him, but none could identify any issues with his body. Ever since then, John tried all sorts of crazy things, even battling with powerful beasts, to try to activate his martial potential, but nothing had worked.
Since he was unable to cultivate, he decided to make up for this by expanding his expertise in other fields, including academics, military strategy, weapon theory and more. He would often spend entire days inside the martial library of his clan, reading the countless books that lay within.
