About this book

The immortal Mujar seem to have no purpose, not using their powers for good or evil. The Black Riders, mounted warriors, seem bent on destroying every human, but no one knows why or where they come from. Using her father’s knowledge, Talsy traps the Mujar with gold, which has a strange effect on his kind. Her father plans to throw him in a Pit, from which there is no escape for one of his kind.

Talsy doesn’t think the Mujar deserves this terrible fate, so she sets him free and pleads with him to take her with on his journey. He agrees, and they set off across Shamarese to continue the Mujar’s quest to find an old hermit’s lost son. However, far more is at stake than Talsy realises… She has unwittingly stumbled across the last free Mujar, and only he has the power to decide the fate of humanity.
