Biography

Mehreen Ahmed has been publishing since 1987. Her first publications were journalistic. They appeared in the Sheaf, a campus newspaper at the university of Saskatchewan, Canada. Later on she published mostly introspective fiction and academic non-fiction. Jacaranda Blues, a stream of consciousness narrative is her debut novella. She has published The Blotted Line, a collection of short stories with Story Institute. Her other books, Snapshots and Moirae were first published by PostScript Editions, UK in 2010. Second editions were published by Cosmic Teapot Publishing, Canada in 2016. Cosmic Teapot publishing has also published her most recent novel, The Pacifist. It has been reviewed by the Midwest Book Review. And was ranked top 10, #7 on Amazon kindle best seller list.

Her short stories have been translated in German and Greek. .The Anomalous Duo to be published in the"Familie (er)zählt: Selection of stories completed; Sammlung abgeschlossen. And The Black Coat in Nyctophilia.gr Her flash fiction, The Portrait, has been published by Straylight Literary Magazine, December,2016.

Mehreen has co-authored books and her works have been included in several anthologies.

Her academic publications include book reviews primarily and research article. They appeared in many notable, peer-reviewed journals of her area of study, such as Computer Assisted Language Learning, Special Issue, Intelligent Call Systems, Lisse, Netherlands Vol 15 Issue 4, 2002. This was republished on Cambridge Journals, Language Teaching by Cambridge University Press, Vol 36 Issue 2, 2003 and Taylor and Francis, Routledge, Vol 15 Issue 4, 2002. Her software reviews were also published in On-Call, Vol 1 No 2 Sept, 1999 and International Society for Technology in Education,Vol 28 No 4, 2000-2001; a book review on Teaching and Researching Language Learning Strategies by Rebecca L Oxford, was published in Language, Learning and Technology, special Issue, Vol 15 No 3 Oct, 2011, followed by a reproduction, for Independence Learner Autonomy Special Interest Group, 2012, University of Canterbury, Kent U.K.

Her creative works have been added by some of the finest research libraries around the world, such as the Friar library: University of Queensland, QLD Australia, University of Cambridge, and the British Library. The Bodleian, Harvard University Library and the National Library of Australia have also added her works to their rare and unique collection. Both COPAC and WORLDCAT have listings of all her works. Jacaranda Blues and Moirae have been heritage listed by the State Library of Victoria.

She has two MA degrees in English literature and Computer Assisted Language Learning (Applied Linguistics) from Dhaka University and the University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia.

Mehreen's story, Write Time - author, written by Toni Johnson-woods was featured in the West End Magazine 4101 Journal/ The Spring Edition/#24 2015.

She lives in Australia, Brisbane but was born in a family of published authors in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
